Cognetix's work published in Design Annual

by on November 4th, 2009

Cognetix had two of its logo designs published in Rockport Publisher’s Letterhead and Logo Design 11. One logo, created by Creative Director Dale Lanford, features a penguin head created for Scoolers, a company that manufactures portable coolers with a college sports theme. The other is OnBoard, a logo created for AstenJohnson, which makes paper making equipment.

Rockport publishes an annual series of books that showcase the latest and most innovative work from well-known design leaders. This volume features more than 400 designs from creatives throughout the country.

Cognetix gets into the Halloween Spirit

by on October 29th, 2009

What should you do if you have an extra pumpkin and a few hours to waste. How about brand it with your logo? Dale Lanford did just that. But if you have more than a few extra pumpkins and many spare hours, try and carve a pumpkin like the guys over at the pumpkingutter. These guys are truly masters.

Also Dale’s daughter, Anna, decided she wanted to make her costume this year. She came up with this idea to be the house that fell on the wicked witch of the east.

So they went to work, first gathering cardboard, paint, exacto knife, and lots of hot glue sticks. We worked on cutting, painting and gluing for about 4 hours to get the initial house built.

One thing learned during this project is that Anna can be dangerous with a hot glue gun. She quickly learned that “hot” was to be taken literally and only burned herself once.

We later added the flowers of Munchkin land that really help give it a good base. We had to add shoulder pads to make the costume comfortable to wear.

Here is what the house looked like when we finished.
