The Cooper River Bridge Run unveiled its 2009 design winner at a reception this evening in Mount Pleasant.
Out of a near-record 86 designs submitted for the contest this summer, a computer-generated design by local graphic artist Jessica Crouch was selected.
The 25-year-old, a native of Scott Depot, W.Va., is the art director for Cognetix Advertising in West Ashley.
While Crouch had submitted watercolor paintings in the previous two Bridge Run design contests, for 2009 she imposed a black silhouette of the Ravenel Bridge onto a photograph of sunset she took last October. She also took the colors from the sunset and used them in the lettering.
Judges said they chose the image because the colors reflected the energy of the event.
Crouch is having a good year artistically. Her design for the Flowertown Festival was selected for Summerville's big weekend event last April.
